Feminist writer Jennifer Baumgardener has created a T-shirt that reads "I was raped" as part of multimedia rape awareness project. Baumgardener aims to force the taboo issue of rape into everyday conversation. Not surprisingly, the T-shirt is causing a fair amount controversy.--Buzzfeed.com This t-shirt was created by the same woman who made one which said "I had an abortion." She says it to create awareness... What do you think? Would you wear it? Think its...
In September, Greenville Ohio, a ten year old boy started a fire in his family's duplex. The fire killed his mom and little sister. Not content with two lives, the fire leeched into the neighbors home and devoured the life of three little souls. Their mom escaped. The ten year old pyromaniac lost his step-dad to AIDS last summer. There is no mention of his biological dad. The single mother next door, who lost her three children, mov...
For Sale. Three bedroom one outhouse, tilting, all natural (green) landscaped home in a happening area. Room for a garage in front, but not recommended since the last one was tore off by a drunk who thought it was a drive thru. Quiet place to live, oh ok traffic can get crazy sometimes with squealing tires as people decide at the last second, "oh no I meant to go THAT way." And you can hear the electricity hum from all the poles, but it don't do ya no harm. In hou...
My little man has finally decided what he wants to be when he "grows up." At first he couldn't decide between this and a dinosaur. But looks like this won out. So we took this picture this morning for posterity. Watch out bad guys!
I couldn't sleep last night. Or should that read "I couldn't sleep at ALL last night?" Technically I slept, but it was the place my mind goes when between full dead limb sleep and wakefulness. Nothing was on my mind. I wasn't worried. I just couldn't grasp the REM sleep I needed. Probably the peanut butter and jelly sandwich I ate three hours before bed. As is my way when not getting rejuvenating sleep, today things are running willy nilly in my head. ...
Tabbitha looked up from the laptop into the dark blue eyes of a man she could only describe as, yuuuuummy. The sounds of the coffee house seemed to recede when she tuned her whole attention to the man before her. Tall, yes he was definitely tall, at least six feet two inches. Her neck hurt to stare up at him. Levis. Very few men looked bad in a pair of tight Levis, but some looked so scrumptious they rivaled the sticky doughy treats in the pastry case not five feet f...
Gavin wants to know if he can shoot squirrels this summer in our yard with the BB Gun his grandad gave him on our trip to Mississippi this past summer. hahaha I told him squirrels are a little harder to shoot than a Styrofoam cup. He thinks he's Wild Bill Hickock.
We are getting some serious snow fall right now. The most we've gotten all season. The weather channel says we are supposed to get between 13-15" by tomorrow afternoon. I woke up this morning, no snow. Now there is almost three inches. Schools are supposed to get out 2 hours early. They need to get the kids home now. I went to the grocery store earlier and there was about an inch on the ground. The roads were horrible. ...

After watching Island Dog's excellent tutorial on Live Wire I decided to try it for more than just text. When I try to use Live Writer and insert photos/videos/maps it gives me this message. What am I doing wrong? My picture host is Photobucket. Here is the message I get... I see LW has another JU stalker. This one is going by the name Kurthy. I understand people with strong opinions get haters on their blog. But it seems to me LW attracts more than her fair share. I've decided..... I WANT A STALKER! Think about it. If you haven't been blog stalked, does that mean you're too boring? Too vanilla to even be tasted? That you aren't worth someone setting up an account, thinking of pithy and sometime...

Hunter, my twelve year old, went for his yearly physical. The Dr. said "he's started puberty." We jokingly refer to him as our "pre-teen" but if he's in puberty, seems like he should already be a teenager. Some things I've noticed about him in the last few months.... He likes to spend free time alone in his bedroom. He has a computer, tv, all the toys, but he only games on the weekends. It's not just that he likes to do it, but it seems like he really hates doing thi...

I spent the whole day yesterday hanging crown molding in the master bedroom. I am so sore from looking up. My neck hurts, and the back of my shoulders are stiff. But this morning when I awoke to bright sunshine and beautiful molding I was content (at least until I tried to get out of bed). Several things I have learned over the years when working with molding: don’t rush (rushing makes for sloppy miter cuts and poor leveling), three coats of paint (no m...

Sunday was Gavin’s 5th Birthday. He wanted to have a party at Chuckee Cheese, so Chuckee Cheese it was. Five of his friends joined him for pizza, brownies, soda, games, and playing. There was a plethora of screaming little voices in different pitches and tones, my twelve year old left with a headache. (Though I think it was more from all the ‘rolling of the eyes’ he did than the actual noise.) It was the longest hour and a half of my life. &...

This is a bit of rant..... My uncle had polio when he was a child. He wore braces and received treatment and grew into adult hood. He held a very physical job until retirement about 8 years ago. Once he retired he was diagnosed with RA. The RA was painful enough he didn’t want to move, so he gained copious amounts of weight until his 5’4” frame reached 300 pounds. Needless to say, he couldn’t walk. He was confined to a...
