I was totally unprepared and ignorant when my child was diagnosed with a speech delay. The research is ongoing, but the main school of thought believes it a genetic condition. Meaning, it is almost entirely inherited. A speech delay is just that….a delay in speaking. My son can say probably 20 words clearly while other “normal” kids can say well over 100. As with most kids having this delay, his receptive language is higher than normal. Meaning, he’s a very smart cookie. There just s...

Just returned from seeing Underworld Evolution. Here is the trailer. Link What an awesome movie. If you saw Underworld, this picks up right where it left off. I won't go into lots of detail because I don't wanna ruin it for anyone. But the Werewolves vs Vampire thing isnt' really continued in this movie. Instead we find out they are fathered by the same immortal, who begets twins, one becomes a vampire after being bitten by a bat, and one a werewolf after being bitten by a wolf...

People who read me know I am interested in skin care. This interest led me to Paula Begoun known in the cosmetics and skin care industry as the "cosmetics cop." She evaluates all new products out today scientifically and gives you the real deal on them. Below is a modified list of her best new skin care products for 2005...see if yours is here! I will do another blog about the best make up of 2005 soon! I took out a few that were only sold in spas so it wouldn't be so long....but if...

I caught the tale end of a show debunking psychics. The statistics guy said that any person can pretend to be psychic and be right 40% of the time. Well that got me to thinking. I thought we’d put JUers to the test and see who among us is gifted. ~waggles fingers in air~ In the comments section, write down your “visions” and it can be about anything and everything you think~clears throat~ I mean you see happening in 2006. It will be more fun if you can predict som...

I went to see King Kong the day after Christmas. I know, I know. It had terrible reviews. So what? I wanted something epic, something with killer cinematography, something violent and loud and something that was fairly mindless. I looked up the show times on Fandango and headed out to the local theater. As usual Fandango had all the times wrong. I could wait there for two hours for Kong, or pick from the mediocre lineup showing right then. I chose Memoirs of a Geisha. Here is the...

Skin care is a semi important issue with me. I know we have to take care of what we have, and not freak when we get older. But when I find advice/products that rock, I will share them here. I think all women care about their skin at some point. Men too, I guess. hehe. Every day and night your skin requires certain basics to defend against any environmental conditions. When skin is healthy and functioning normally, the surface feels and looks smoother (because it is) and is therefore...

A few weeks ago there was a discussion on adult acne and things to use. I believe Locomama started it. Thought I would share some info with you from a newsletter I get every month. It's fabulous and has saved me lots of money because it reviews all the new products (make up and skin care) and lets me know if its state of the art or state of the FART. HA! How to be Gentle to Your Skin I cannot stress this enough, irritation and inflammation are bad for skin--really, really bad. We d...

I read a lot of blogs on JU. I am starting to learn little tid bits here and there but know even from my own blogging there is so much more to tell yet.... So I was wondering, is there something you consider important about who you are, or some little fact you think pinpoints your personality that you'd like to share? I'd love to hear your self descriptions or even experiences, anything you think is important. If you can't think of anything it could be something like, "If I had to d...

Chapter 15 “Shifter,” Cade spat. Razar growled deep in his throat and stalked toward the beautiful woman. “No!” Simon yelled and stood between Cade and the woman. “She too is looking for the witch!” Cade’s eyes narrowed. “Then it be for no good cause. Stand aside. You know the penalty for harboring a dark race. And penalty you shall pay.” Razar chose that moment to leap for the woman. The air shimmered a split second before Ra...

Debbie, Debbie, Debbie. I must know at least six women named Debbie. In my life, certain names seem to re-emerge again and again; Robert, Kathy, Tracy to name a few. But Debbie, though the name constantly recurs in my life with new introductions, was one of a kind. "Kids meet your new step-mom," dad announced when I walked in from a hard day in 8th grade. I was shocked to see him home on a weekday before 7 p.m. Amazement replaced shock when my baby blues beheld the long...

Chapter 13 A frustrated Cade made his way back toward Rotta’s burning hasma, the full moons providing ample light. Razar followed her scent quite successfully for some distance then suddenly it was gone. Razar rounded the spot not far from the hasma where the scent disappeared. Cade ran a thick palm through his black hair. It made no sense. Razar never lost a scent once tracking it, even when the hunted tried disguising it. He arrived as the last of the city folk were retreat...

When I was sixteen I worked at Ponderosa. For those of you unfamiliar with “the Rosa” let me elaborate on the experience of working there in the mid 80’s. Ponderosa was a steak house with an old west theme. You walk in, get a tray, place your steak order, and move your tray on down the line, cafeteria style, toward the cashier. On the way you see the chef cooking up his steaks on the grill and other employees preparing your food. Beside the chef you see the baked...

Right now I am sitting in the most disgusting stench it has ever been my misfortune to whiff. My son has a friend, who is a very nice child. But the child has such a horrible smell I can hardly be around him. Today I picked them up from school and my vehicle still carries the heavy musk of his body odor. It is a musky, body odor, dead cat kind of smell. And it is THICK. I mean it doesn’t dissipate when he leaves a room. If he sits on an upholstered piece of furniture that piece wil...
