Snarky-ness ahead.............. Went to see the movie Gamer.   I don't game but this movie rocked the house.  Ok, it was an obvious Matrix/Gladiator rip-off, but so what?  Why fix it if it ain't broke? hahaha.  The music was good, the main character was hunky, and even the gamer was hot.  (Which is exactly why guys go see this movie I'm sure.) The plot is weak, laughable actually...man in prison after being forced to murder b/f, must get out to be with da...

People showing up at town halls across this country are not being paid, coaxed, or brain-washed to be there.  First of all, what all powerful organization could accomplish such a thing?  Now that's a great conspiracy theory! Second, the people at these town hall meetings don't appear to be anyone's lackey.  How insulting to believe Americans are so easily bought, led, and basically told what to do.  I do however, think a lot of them are there more out of a general...

Squeezing an entire quarter into 5 weeks?  Not a good idea.  Especially when the instructor wants you to taste every aspect of a field as broad and wide as Public Works.  It's not just about toilet water ya know. --------------------------- I dreamed last night.  About the past, about three different periods of time in my life, with three different people.  I don't like dreaming about the past.  It's a waste of good dream space.  I'd rather go p...

James D Doss. This man is officially one of my all time favorite authors.   He’s been writing for, well, ever you say?   My most sophisticated and non-grouchy reply…..Have you seen how many books are in the library?   And I swear they seem to add more every day!   At this rate I will be lucky to read them all before I pass on to greener pastures..and yes, I do believe as the lusty, well tanned, powerful, and barely-there loin covered Imhotep, &ldquo...

It's been awhile.... I finally found facebook.  Find isn't actually the correct word.  I knew where it was but avoided it like having ants in the house. My ambivalence stemmed from going to five high schools, spending four years active duty in the AF and another 20 married to the AF which resulted in at least 13 moves.  That's a lot of people to know, lose contact with, and then get reacquainted with at one time. And you know what?  I was right to wait. D...

JR Ward's 7th book, Lover Avenged, of the Black Dagger Brotherhood (BDB) series is out.  Technically the books are "romance" but when you actually read them, there is much more happening than just lovey dovey all the time.  Lots of really good action/fighting scenes with constant macro plot building.  These books could easily be fantasy, and maybe should be, but I will discuss that later. I do have a few issues with the author though....

I am so sick. I shoulda known. Yesterday I was feeling kinda warbly.  It's a feeling somewhere between a brain fog and shaking uncontrollably.  I thought it was too much caffeine.  I don't get sick very often. The crud is going around.  No, not that crud.  Just a cold/flu/upper respiratory thing.  I couldn't sleep last night, my mind spinning off in a thousand directions.  It's hard to sleep when you can't breath through your nose. ...

Finished the Round Robin Story, which I titled Red Star in my head. Don't worry, no one expects you to read it.  (Though ruthless emails explaining when you lost interest and why, things like what is not working are/were appreciated.) It took 4 months of fitful, sometimes obsessive writing, in-between this little thing called life, to get the story of my imagination onto 316 pages in Word, which translates to roughly 100,000 words.  And its not so much a story as an obese ...

Two things in the Dayton Daily News (DDN) yesterday made me say, "huh."  First, did you realize more women are going into porno and stripping because of the economy?  It seems there is a surplus of openings in these professions and women who were "white collar" employees a few short weeks ago, now find the adult entertainment industry the only alternative to unemployment. Huh. Second, Dayton's Planned Parenthood would not give any specific numbers to DDN, (they were unav...

Right now, with an all "volunteer" military, I often hear people talk about just "joining up." It's not that easy.  There is a reason our military members are considered professionals, not only by Americans but most countries around the world. Here are some general facts about enlisting in the US military. They may help you decide for yourself, help a loved one, or just know when someone is lying like a dog about joining.  (Why do people lie?  I dunno. ...

Me:  "1 Billion Dollars for STD prevention?  That's stimulus?" Her:  "Well yeah.  Someone needs to get in there (the schools) with bananas and condoms, show those kids how to use them." Me:  "What?" Her:  "Abstinence only doesn't work.  Educators need that money!" Me:  "They already get sex ed, at least at my kid's school.  And what school teaches abstinence only?" Her:  "All of them!" Me:  "How many ...
