Suspicious results and strange behavior: Results labeled 'This site may harm your computer'

We want our users to feel safe when they search the web, and we're continuously working to identify dangerous sites and increase protection for our users. This warning message appears with search results we've identified as sites that may install malicious software on your computer:

Malware warning

If you click the title of the result, you'll be shown the following warning rather than being taken immediately to the webpage in question:

So I'm wondering if Stardock knows Google has identified the JoeUser forums as harmful?  Is it just JU or all Stardocks sites?  Might this affect traffic?

Just checkin......

Trust Google???  I'd rather put my hand in a nest of scorpions.

I detect some animosity there.

We are still working to try and fix it with Google, but contacting them is like contacting someone on Mars.

My suggestion....

Use Bing.

Without a government mandated monopoly (patent or copyright), all Monopolies fail.  I suspect Google just fiddled their dominance away.  Not that they will not be a factor, but Bing will become a major player as these episodes continue to multiply instead of disappear.

Really???  Who me???   Do I really sound as anti-Google as That???

Actually, I'm sorta expecting a cease and desist letter from Google or its lawyer for all the derogatory stuff I keep saying about it.

Hehe, they're gonna have to do a darned fine job of scaring the bejesus out of me tho.... cos it has become like a sport to me... bad-mouthing Google, that is.

It can't happen soon enough for me.... I'd love to see Google fiddle itself into oblivion, thou I'd have to find a new target to besmirch and denigrate.

Hmmm, I wonder if Yahoo have thick enough skins to cop it for a while.

I saw a process server heading to  your door.

I don't know that it's just Google....my Norton gives me this everytime I hit the forums....

Like Firefox, Norton is getting it from Google.  Kind of like email and blacklisting.  Not every ISP (and most do not) have a list of sites that they will not accept mail from.  instead, they use 3rd parties that track the bad domains.  Firefox and Norton use a 3rd party - in this case Google.

And where the catch 22 comes from.  if Gunslingerbara is correct, the flagging came from Google Ads!  Nice little monopoly there for Google.  Create the problem and then charge to fix it (since they have not, I am sure greasing of their palm will speed up their response to the inquiries )

"We are still working to try and fix it with Google, but contacting them is like contacting someone on Mars."

They do provide details:

After you fix that, then you can request a review using Google's Webmaster Tools.

Ah, so that's what that bloke was doing here yesterday??   Yeah, he had a little accident.... got his nose slammed shut in the sliding door.  Hmmm, don't think we'll be seeing him again for a while...

I hear nose re-attachments take a while to heal

I am sure greasing of their palm will speed up their response to the inquiries

Yup, grease it with a healthy amount of nitro glycerin infused dollar bills... then wait for the almighty boom a Google HQ.

Google flagging malicious sites is an awesome service. When they flag you its for a reason. Shouldn't take too long for the team here to locate the cause and fix it.

Gunslinger says they have it resolved now - it just has to work through the system.  Yet their lethargic reaction to Stardock's request indicates an indifference to the needs and complaints of their customers.  A very non-customer oriented company in my view.  Sounds like how a monopoly treats its customers.

I don't know much about this. But Stardock has commercial ads running from third parties on their sites. Sometimes those commercial ads use bad coding to collect your information (Each idividual see ads relating to what he/she has previously searched). I have made some searches trying to buy few things from Neiman Marcus Online and some others. Momment after, commercial ads on wincustomize were posting (the same items) I may want base on my search behavior.

I had to delete my cookies

It's NOT stardock that is unsafe, but the third parties running malicious commercial ads that are being detected causing GOOGLE to flag Stardock

Use NoScript

on Oct 05, 2010

What is livertip.com?  Everytime I come to the JU forums, Norton tells me its blocks an attack from livertip.

on Oct 05, 2010

Every time I try to use ff here with adblock and noscripts, I can't logon to forums.

Google Analytics, and two other scripts are blocked logging on to the site. (WC).
