Gavin's Kindergarten class is getting ready for Thanksgiving.

His first project for the month of November is disguising a turkey so it won't be caught for Thanksgiving dinner.

Here is the Turkey:

HERE IS THE TURKEY IN THE WITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM.

hahahahahahahaha

This is a real project and its going in like this.

My son doesn't know much about the presidential election....but he is good with shapes.  This big fat face of Obama came in the newspaper on a Direct TV ad.  It is almost perfectly shaped like the turkey.

He picked it because Gavin hates coloring more than anything else he must do in Kindergarten.  This big head met all his criteria.  It gave the turkey a disguise and its big enough he doesn't have to color anything.

Perfect.

The boy is brilliant already. I mean he knows how to maximize his strengths while not doing what he doesn't like. Smart boy!

Great project.

Yeah he is pretty smart when it comes to getting out of coloring.

Did I mention these are going to hang in the hall at school?

Gavin wants the turkey to have a cape, he loves capes.

However, once the hilarity of the situation wore off, my husband and I decided this probably isn't a great idea.  Granted, Gavin picked the picture himself and doesn't know who the big headed guy is...we don't want any teachers taking offense and then being mean to him about it.

So the turkey is still in the witness protection program but we are going to give it a burka and a cape.  Gavin likes masks, we're going to cover the turkey in cloth so only his eyes are showing and then give him the must have necessity in the witness protection program..a cape!

That way no one is being rude to my little man because they are mad at his parent's perceived political views.

Ew.  hahahaha

Yeah, mine really make us laugh out loud sometimes..

Hope his teacher is not too far left and fail to see the humor. Kinda like the Seinfeld episode where Elaine is labeled a "difficult" patient and a note is placed in her medical record. Personally I think it might be backward - Obama wearing the turkey mask. Very creative boy you have there!

Dark meat...good one Zoo

That's funny!  He IS good with shapes!  LOL.

I can completely understand your decision to alter it a little bit...even though it's not right or fair, he probably would end up being talked about in the teacher's lounge.

Yeah well after being molested on the bus we wanted to give them a chance to talk about somebody else's kid for awhile.

Hope his teacher is not too far left and fail to see the humor.

Which is why we chose to alter it (see comment above).  Even though I know he picked it for laziness, heh, others may think it was more political and hold it against him.

But the hilarity of him cutting out Obama to be the turkey....hahahaha.  Just cracks me up.  And he's totally clueless.

The turkey in the witness protection program could be represented by a blank sheet of paper....

Can't see the turkey? See how well it worked!

Ah that's a good one.  He went with a cape and mask...glued the fabric on and wa-la superhero witness protection program.

Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong, but I would have thought that it would be an Obama supporting family that turned that in -- what joke am I missing? I'm feeling very dense!

Regardless, if I were the teacher, I'd think it was cute and timely and that the kid can cut out shapes well.  (I also agree with whoever said Gavin was smart to find ways to eliminate tasks he doesn't like -- very bright!!).

Nah, you can look at it any way you want, pro or con...but I was thinking Obama = a turkey in disguise. hahahaha.

Since this came up my husband and I explained who Obama is, but Gavin wasn't really interested.  He kept getting mad and saying "No!  You can't vote for them!  You have to vote for ME!"

Today he went with me to vote and since he can't pronounce Barack Obama well, its a tongue twister for him, he kept saying (loudly) "Lets vote for the turkey guy!  Can I vote for the turkey guy?"

Then after school today he told me they voted in class, and he decided a turkey wasn't a good option after all, he voted for the cow.

What a character.
