In Niagara Falls there is a street called "fun strip."  It has everything you could want to see and some things you don't heh.  Wax museums, Ripley's Believe It or Not, Ferris Wheel, Hard Rock Café, you name it.  Totally commercial and really has little to do with the falls.  Heh.

But it wasn't a total tourist trap...I got to meet Tiger Woods and my Aunt chatted with the Pope.  Pics below.

Here are some photos of our day on fun strip.

Tallest man in the world's chair...my aunt in it.

Is that the POPE?

Hey Tiger!  Give me a high five!  Don't be stuck up!

Best place to eat on the strip....authentic Italian.

That's it except for one more....

Heh.  Now I really am done posting about the trip.  It was fun, but time to move on and start planning the next ROAD TRIP!

Giant chocolate bar? hmmm.

Chocolate really seems to be a big seller there.  Fudge Shoppes adorn just about every corner.  We sure ate our fair share!

Btw, in case you've been swearing under your breath about how you won a copy of "Walking My Fingers Through Christmas" but haven't received it yet....  Yes, I still plan on sending you one, but I've found a better way to burn and print them so you'll get the first of the new batch.  ;~D

HAHAHAHAH.  You know me so well Ted!  I am honored to get it and will wait patiently.

Ok, is it here yet? heheheh

Thanks forever.  It may be awhile since my husband will gone until Christmas, then the day after he heads off to Afghanistan for at least 6 months.

The only trips during that time will be of the kiddie variety! hahahahah

What an amazing "fun strip"!! Gosh I need to get out more. That Ripley's museum is one of the most creative things I've ever seen.

Lucky gal! What a fun trip. I think I'll put Niagara Falls on my list of things to see before I die

That Ripley's museum is one of the most creative things I've ever seen.

Yeah, it was interesting from the outside.  We didn't pay the $10-$25 (depending on which thing you wanted to go into) for each place.  It could get pricey there with kids because the cheapest thing (the ferris wheel) is $10 a person.

I think fun strip was created as a way to keep people in Niagara Falls and spending money.  You can do everything that has to do with the falls in one day.  So, they needed SOMETHING else for people to do.  hahaha

It's a fun trip, but honestly, unless your kids are into the falls I wouldn't recommend the trip with kids.  If its "fun strip" stuff they like to do, an amusement park anywhere would fit that bill, be cheaper, and probably more fun!

My boys would like the boat ride.  But not really anything else.  Heh.

i've been to niagra and found it to be a good time,,,i'm curious to what ya found to be things "you don't want there?"
was it (fast food, et al) chains? was it an "seedy element?" crack dealers and whores? just curious as it has been over a decade since i've been there

HAHAHA.  Nothing as exciting as crack or whores. I was kinda being tongue in cheek about it because there seems to be a wax museum every other business on fun strip, and not particularly good ones.  I took photos of the best with Tiger and the Pope, and Brandon.

If I HAD to pick something though it would be the crowds.  I'm not a big fan of huge crowds/long lines, and even though we went during the semi-off season, it was pretty crowded and growing the closer we got to the weekend..  I can't imagine what it's like in the summer.heh

Sorry Kelly I missed this one!  Yeah I came home and told my husband I met Tiger.  He didn't believe me, so I pulled out my digital and showed him.

He wasn't impressed.

Suggestion for a future road trip: I dunno how far away you are, but if you enjoyed that trip, you'd enjoy the Wisconsin Dells quite a bit. A lot of similar touristy shops there

i spent some time up in wisconson in the 80's. back then, i would travel most summers to see my favorite band, the grateful dead up @ alpine valley. beautiful, spacious country. i remember hangin out in a little town called lyons i think it was...i remember the cops used to sit down at a stop sign a way down the road from the hall that was partially covered by a tree branch (every summer, funny, huh?) ...people would blow the stop sign off and they made bookoo bucks giving out fines. i didn't mind so much as this meant that they weren't harrassing peaceful hippies hangin out inside the grounds.
