Canada here I come!
Published on September 8, 2006 By Tova7 In Travel

When I was in the Air Force my buddies and I would occasionally take a road trip.  Sometimes we'd go to a tourist location, sometimes just a hotel some distance away for some serious partying.  All in all though when we yelled, "Road Trip" it meant, good times to be had and lets roll!  So in that vein I have to say...

ROAD TRIP!!!!!!

My husband is back from Asia and has about 10 days before he leaves again…soooooo  I am off to Niagara Falls with my aunt on Monday.  Link

We will be staying at the Hilton on the Canadian side.  She doesn’t have a certified copy of her birth certificate, but has a copy.  (Customs said that will be ok when we called but am really hoping they don’t ask for it.)

Starting 1 Jan 07, you have to have a passport to cross into Canada and Mexico.  What a pain in the butt.

We considered some of the outstanding B&B’s…but there is just something about being on the twenty seventh floor overlooking the falls, with room service, two bedrooms, whirlpool, massage room and spa, and no kids!  Woot!!  Not to mention a huge water slide and pool, and a glass enclosed walkway to the casino.

The only down side is I really hate to put money in Paris Hilton’s pocket.  Oh well, I still buy Heinz.  Haha.  I just can't stand the taste of Hunt's.  ~gags~

I will take pictures and post when I return, refreshed and renewed.

ROAD TRIP!

Sigh...

Seems my road trips anymore consist of taking the trash to the curb...

But have fun! (and I didn't know that about having to have a passport to get into Mexico! I wonder if you have to have one if you're on their side and climb over the fence? Hmmm....)

Have pitty on Paris.  She has that DUI to pay for!

Have a great time, and take pictures.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Yeah that's a good question!  After January, no more easy 'duty free' runs north and south of the border.  A passport starts at around $60 and that's if you already have all the documentation and the two required pictures. Meh, easier to just buy the liquor here and pay the tax...ha.

ave pitty on Paris. She has that DUI to pay for!

Pfft.  Paris needs to get a life...and in the process throw some of that old life (ie money) my way!

Sounds great! Have a fun trip and please do post pictures!

Thanks Jenny!  I plan on squeezing every single drop of fun out of this trip.  The not so fun part is getting the meals ready and freezing them for the kids next week, making lists of things like appts, soccer, etc.  So my husband doesn't forget....but I don't mind because I'm going on a ROAD TRIP!  Woot!

hehehehehehe.

Woot!

Sounds fabulous, Tova.

Be safe and have fun. I'm looking forward to the pics, too! (And at least a story or two about what went on at home in your absence!! LOL)

Ok, but be warned...I have the devil's own luck....haha.

Yeah, its funny that...I just want the driving part to be over and be there already. hahaha.

(And at least a story or two about what went on at home in your absence!! )

I am sure the really good stuff won't come out till later...haha.  My husband is keeping both boys four days, for the first time ever.  I dread what the house will look like when I get back.  Oh well.

Went shopping today and bought some new shoes and uh, underwear. heh.  Mine were all showing the elastic and I can hear my aunt chiding me in my head so I bought some new ones.

One more day!

So you're celebrating having your husband home....by TAKING OFF????? But for four of the ten days he'll be home, I guess that's fair. And you've earned a vacation!!

We visited the USA/ Canada border a few weeks ago. Here's our toddler & me by a fountain on the dividing line:

Do you suppose that garden will soon require a passport to cross from one side to the other? Hehe.

The only down side is I really hate to put money in Paris Hilton’s pocket. Oh well, I still buy Heinz. Haha. I just can't stand the taste of Hunt's. ~gags~

:: I spent my 13th summer with an heir to the Hunt's corporation. Heath Hunt was his name, he was about my age I think. I wonder if he's rich now, or if the awful taste of Hunt's catsup has been enough to break them. Funny, I've never done a taste comparison. I simply buy Heinz because I don't notice anything else on the shelf. Hmmm...

Is this about catsup, ketchup, or trips?

I just got back from VT. Mount Snow Grand Summit Resort and we had a blast. So T, you'll have to call when you get back and we'll trade stories.

As far as the red stuff? I didn't know there was THAT much of a diff. Usually we just buy the cheapest usually the store brand. I guess I don't have discriminating tastebuds!

Have a blast at the falls. I can still remember my trip years ago. The flowers were beautiful.

Yeah.  I go when I can, but now I'm back.  Alas, too short.

Do you suppose that garden will soon require a passport to cross from one side to the other? Hehe.

I don't know, but I found out that driving into Canada won't require a passport until Jan 2008...but coming in by sea and air will require one Jan 2007.

That's good to know.
