When I read good reviews from a trusted professional I like to share them.  Saves money.

L'Oreal
great
Volume Shocking Mascara ($12.95) is shocking, at least if you're used to lackluster or natural-look mascaras! This two-step mascara includes a Lash Defining Base Coat and a Volume Constructing Top Coat. The Base Coat is a white "primer" whose formula is similar to that of most mascaras, minus the pigment. It nicely separates and lengthens lashes, but things really get exciting when the Top Coat is applied. It goes on with a comb instead of a brush applicator, and the result is a heavier application of mascara that dramatically lengthens, thickens, and curls with a few strokes.

As usual, I applied the primer step to one set of lashes and then used just the mascara on the other. Usually the difference isn't noticeable, but it was this time, albeit marginally. The side with the Base Coat produced fewer clumps when the Top Coat was applied, although some clumping was apparent with or without the Base Coat, as was minor flaking during wear.

That's the trade off if you decide to try this product: magnificently enhanced lashes but an application process that demands more precision and, preferably, a clean brush to comb through lashes so clumps are smoothed out. This is surprisingly easy to remove with a water-soluble cleanser.

I think I'm allergic to Mascara. It seems when I wear it my eyes itch or feel irritated. I wear it only on special occasions and then it's ok. But if I wore it extensively I think it would be bothersome after a while.

Whenever I do wear mascara tho I get comments on how dark my eyes are. I have really dark brown eyes. Recently one person said to his mother later (not really knowing me). "Wow, did you see the color of her eyes? They are so dark they look black."

That sounds awesome.

I wear make up when I feel like it (which isn't today! ha!) but I like to be sure I am using something I trust.  I don't want mascara running down my face, or pooling around my eyes when I do wear it...so I read a few professionals who test EVERYTHING independently and then work from there.  90% of the time I agree....others I don't..but its more a personal preference thing and not quality.

I normally use Lancome's 'Hypnose' waterproof mascara. It's expensive, yes - $20 a tube - but it works well and lasts about 6 months. I figure it's better to spend $20 on something that works and that I like than $10 four or five times on cheaper mascaras that I don't like and won't use.
Having said that, I used Loreal's Volume Shocking a couple of weeks ago for the first time, and it is fabulous. I was cursed with naturaly short and thin lashses, and this stuff makes them 100% thicker and longer. It's great stuff, and I think that I may make this my only brand of mascara from now on.

I use Almay's oil-free eye makeup remover, and it comes off easily with that.

A little known fact about Lancome....it is owned by L'Oreal and you can find L'Oreal products that are identical to  Lancomes right in your drug store for much cheaper than Lancome packaging.  As a matter of fact, the products are almost always launched in L'Oreal first and then a few months later show up in the Lancome line.

I rarely buy Lancome's products.  I goto their counter, look at what I like, then go to the drug store and buy it on the L'Oreal label.  Much cheaper that way.

I only use L'OReal mascara because its a good product.

Now if L'Oreal could just get its foundations to match those of Revlon, they'd be rockin!haha.

Oh and D..the comments on your crying article are disabled....L'Oreal waterproof...holds UP to tears!

That's why I only use the waterproof...I am not a crier per say...well actually at all, can't remember the last time I did it.  But just about the time I wear regular mascara, I probably would have to cry...and some women can cry and look beautiful.....not me.  It's ugly, red nose, bloodshot eyes, puffy bags, so I don't want to add long strings of black to that!

You'll have to share your thoughts.  As much as I love the "professional" opinions I trust, real women I know count as much if not more.

If my gal pal says, "I bought this and it flaked all over my cheeks."  I am not going to buy it, no matter how highly recommended it comes.
