I am going insane.

There is just no other explanation.

Today I took my digital camera, the one with all my photos on it, the one that cost a fortune, the ONLY digital we have, yeah THAT one, out for some photos of our progress on the yard.  To date we have 100 tons of dirt dropped and spread.  I think its way too much, but that's another blog.

So I was on the phone with my aunt and taking pictures with my digital.  I can remember taking the photos, turning to walk toward the house, and then that's it.  No matter how many ways I try to remember where I put it, I can't.  So there is no retracing steps.

I turned the house upside down and inside out, every single drawer, every single cabinet, the refrigerator, the stove.  I even went out and dug through the garbage....GROSS!

It's nowhere.

I get so angry when something like this happens.  I am one of those people who knows where every single thing in my home is located.  Even if its in a big pile of junk in the garage, or a junk drawer, I know where it is.

I looked for three straight hours, still NOTHING.

Very few things piss me off more than not being able to find something.  I don't know why I get so angry about it, but I do.

Right now I am ready to scream.

WHERE IS MY CAMERA!!!!?????!!!!????!!

Nope.  Don't feel a bit better.

Grrrr.

TELL ME ABOUT IT!    Me too! If ANYTHING will start a fight in my house it's when people jack with my stuff and NOT PUT IT BACK WHERE THEY FOUND IT! I've found that what works, like for car keys and wallets and such, is to have just certain places where they're kept and nowhere else. That way they won't get lost. Example: when I bought my Bose radio the remote for it is about the size of a credit card and I set down the ground rule that the remote is to be kept either by the radio OR IN YOUR HAND WHEN YOU'RE USING IT. And so far that has worked. Shame I gotta be so anal about it but that's the only way to keep from loosing stuff all the time!

Whew. Rant over.

Anyway, I hope you find your camera!

Thanks Roy, I really needed a laugh..tho I know you are serious.  I'm so angry I'm shakin!

I just came back in from going through the garbage AGAIN....gah, its so freaking gross...and still nothing.  My youngest is whinning, I have a yard full of dirt, my head is pounding, and I still have miles to go before we wrap up the weekend....cleaning up supper right now with the computer in the kitchen.

If I don't find it by tomorrow I won't ever find it.  Whenever I lose something, it is good and truly lost if I don't find it fairly soon.

Kinda like a crime scene.  The longer it goes from the actual crime (losing it), the less likely anything productive will come of it.

Heh, at work we do what we call "shakedowns" all the time if something comes up missing -say like a razor blade. Pretty important to find them razor blades ya know! Don't like 'em just floating around!   Of course we have special mirrors and all kinds of tricks so you'd be amazed at our success in find very small things. The thing is, ya just gotta be very methodiacal and meticulous in your searching and as, George Carlin says, Of COURSE it will be in the LAST place you look!

I am pretty methodical...the camera is silver, I took a black piece of construction paper around to look at individual shelves in the garage...I was able to isolate the shelf, and if any silver was near it was highlighted by the black.

Still nadda.  The ONLY thing I can think of is the garbage.  Somehow it made it into the garbage and despite digging around in there, its probably at the bottom.  With a yard full of dirt I can't exactly dump it all out...

Now when my husband comes in tonight he will start to look too, and redo all the places I've already checked fifty times....and if I can't find it, I KNOW he can't.

You don't think the camera got buried in all that dirt...do you? Oh, man... I've been there with the misplaced/lost things. I hope you find it.

A little memory trick that really works is always watch your hand set something down. It's amazing how well that works especially with items you use frequently as the mental picture fades quickly.

Whew! Thx heavens he did find it!

In my house, Toni is the one who 'loses' things.  I'm like Roy; I have a place for everything will always put things back where they came from.  With Toni, it is usually her phone, keys or some small item.  Most of these usually turn up in her handbag, which is like Dr. Who's TARDIS (for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, check it out here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TARDIS )

I'm really pleased you found the camera.  Phew...

It's all good Roy...I think he's pretty awesome..despite the manliness.

That's a good idea...but ya know what? I actually had the mental picture of me setting it down, it was just from the time before.

Whew! Thx heavens he did find it!

Thanks Donna...yeah. You know there is a story in the Bible about a woman who loses a gold coin, turns her house upside down and when she finds it, all her friends help her celebrate.

That's how I feel right now.

Thanks friends.

YEah, I don't know why, but no matter how big the purse, everything seems to disappear into it. I can NEVER find my phone in mine before it goes to voice mail, and I bought a hot pink one to help me find it easier.

Still doesn't work.

I'm really pleased you found the camera. Phew...

Thanks Dyno. I know it sounds stupid, but I was really stressing. I don't ever lose things...

This is great. Like a sitcom...everything got worked out before I even knew it happened. So Glad For You !!  Wenever MamaCharlie loses something, nobody rests til it is found no matter what has to get tore up in the process. There is always that little lift you feel when something is found.

I lost my engagement ring for a couple of months (and sadly told my wife that). Then found it when I was NOT looking for it!

Bet your husband that cant find anything was doing something else when he found it.

Yeah, its all good for YOU...I had to sweat and worry and wonder...hahahaha.

Wenever MamaCharlie loses something, nobody rests til it is found no matter what

So funny you said that...I made my 12 year old and my 5 year old help me for over an hour. My five year old kept saying.."AH! Here it is!" And when I'd run to him...he'd say, "Just kiddin."

The little runt.

Bet your husband that cant find anything was doing something else when he found it.

Yup. He was going out to get some water, and looking at the same time. He has mad multi-tasking skills....er, not.
